The Opportunity

Delaware North Global Headquarters is hiring a Director of Accounting to join our finance team in Buffalo, New York. As Director of Accounting, you will be responsible for the governance and proactive development and enhancement of the accounting record to report end-to-end process across the Delaware North enterprise. In addition, the Director of Accounting will provide leadership for multiple accounting managers in a department of 14 employees and oversee the third-party vendor handling transactions in Sri Lanka. In addition, you’ll interact with people at all levels and in all areas of the company.

Responsibilities

• Work with Sportservice business units to support the initial implementation and integration of the shared services platform, and help integrated units with ongoing stabilization and continuous improvement.
• Drive the month end general ledger close process.
• Streamline all accounting process operations, identify and leverage of cross-process synergies.
• Ensure continuous improvement and assuming accountability for service delivery of the accounting R2R process.
• Balance sheet account reconciliation black-line process improvement.
• Ensure process compliance with all relevant legal or contractual requirements and company policy.
• Manage and drive standardization and consistency in process execution across a decentralized accounting team spread across multiple business units.
• Serve as the primary interface with the managed service provider regarding accounting record to report services to Delaware North subsidiaries.

Qualifications

• 8 to 10 years of related accounting experience, including managing large scale, global organizations, and virtual teams.
• Proven leadership and management abilities along with strong accounting knowledge.
• Change management and operations experience.
• A deep understanding of accounting close process and sub-process areas.
• Continuous improvement and business process management along with an understanding of metrics and how to use them to drive improvement.
• BA or BS in related field such as Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration. MBA or MS in Accounting or Finance is preferred.
• CPA highly preferred; prior public accounting experience is a plus.
