Junior Software Engineer

Deimos Space UK is looking for a Software Developer to join the Space Situational Awareness (SSA) team in Oxford. The team works on a range of projects across the entire SSA domain, from sensor development to tracking and characterisation of space objects, collision risk assessment and mitigation strategy development.

Key functions:

As a key member of the UK team, you will be responsible for providing software solutions to SSA projects. The successful candidate will work locally with the UK SSA team and will have support in the software domain from the wider international team.

Main activities:

• Define software requirements and workflow
• Design, develop, test, deliver and deploy the software
• Interact with customers and colleagues to understand project needs
• Generate appropriate documentation and communicate results to customers
• Support in proposal preparation and other commercial activities

Education:

A relevant university degree (Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent).

Professional Experience:

Minimum experience:

• An early career engineer, candidate must have industry experience (at least an internship should have been completed) in a software engineering role.

Required:

• Strong knowledge of Python and at least one of Java, C/C++
• Significant OS experience in Linux
• Full Software Development Life Cycle experience – in particular, design and test
• SQL experience
• Experience working with GitLab, Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence)

Desirable:

• General database technologies life cycle experience
• Continuous integration and delivery experience
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes
• Agile software development experience

Technical Requirements:

• Python, Java, Javascript and/or C/C++

Desirable:

• Docker, Kubernetes
• CI/CD using Gitlab Framework or Atlassian Ecosystem
• SonarQube

Language Skills:

English (level B2): Fluency in both oral and written English
