As a Software Systems Specialist, you will support the Infrastructure and Property Group (IPG) and broader University stakeholders by maintaining, developing and implementing corporate applications and services.

The position supports the Manager, Software Systems to remain at the forefront of technology-based facility services. Working in the Technology Solutions team, you will explore opportunities to continuously improve systems, ensure efficiency in execution, application, and user experience, while understanding the needs and scoping requirements of any new technology.

Working within the IPG team, in this position, you will specialise in the design and implementation of powerful business intelligence reporting using a range of platforms to provide IPG with concise and accurate analytics. You will be also managing the fleet of IPG computers and laptops, servers and associated peripherals across all campuses.

This is a full-time continuing role that can be based at Geelong Waterfront of Burwood Campus. We offer a blended working arrangement – working from the office and home.

Your key responsibilities will include to:

• Support the Manager, Software Systems to manage and upgrade IPG corporate applications.
• Assist with the design and implementation of custom software solutions for IPG and broader university stakeholders.
• Troubleshoot issues that arise with IPG’s corporate applications including Archibus and LinkSafe.
• Assist in the development of software solutions, using technologies such as PHP, Python and Javascript for IPG.
• Support Technology Solutions with generating custom reports from corporate databases using Microsoft SQL, and Oracle (PL/SQL, SQL) using a range of business intelligence platforms (PowerBI, Tableau).
• Support Technology Solutions by providing powerful, easy to digest analytics using a range of business intelligence platforms (PowerBI, Tableau).
• Support the implementation of system integrations between IPG corporate applications and University-wide applications.
• Promote IPG embedded processes to minimise the risk of procuring non-approved software.
• Maintain Windows-based virtual machines.
• Assist with the development and maintenance of GIS and Drawings platforms.
• In consultation with the Manager, Software Systems, manage and upgrade IPG end-user computer hardware, with regular audits of leased hardware and work point hardware.
• Provide software and technical support to end-users of IPG corporate applications.
• Develop training guides and facilitate training sessions for newly deployed solutions.

To be successful, you will have:

• Relevant computer-related tertiary degree, or relevant extensive experience, or an equivalent combination of training and relevant experience.
• Demonstrated experience providing technical support for corporate applications.
• Demonstrated experience in developing a wide range of platforms or programming languages, such as PHP5+, (Zend Framework or similar), HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, Web Services (REST, APIs, JSON, AJAX), Python, Microsoft SQL, and Oracle (PL/SQL, SQL).
• Training or experience with the Agile project management methodology, using the Scrum framework
• Experience managing Windows-based servers.
• Experience with business intelligence platforms such as PowerBI and Tableau for building reports and data dashboards.
• Experience with Archibus, AutoCAD, GIS platforms *desirable.
• Experience in the planning and facilitation of group training sessions.
• Ability to collaborate with staff who may not possess extensive IT skills.
• High-level technical expertise in managing computer hardware, software and networking equipment.
• Proven capability to work positively and effectively as part of a collaborative work team, to accommodate and work well with different working styles and to work independently where required.
• Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to produce clear and accurate communications that are appropriate for their intended audience
• Demonstrated ability to organise and plan, and to meet rigid and conflicting demands and deadlines, along with the ability to adapt to changed priorities.
