• HEW 10 $126,606 + 17% Superannuation

The appointee will partner with key stakeholders across the University, providing professional advice, coaching and consulting to enable the effective alignment of financial management strategies and organisational objectives. With significant experience in senior management and executive level engagement, your demonstrated track record in a similarly large, complex environment will ensure the delivery of financial sustainability within your designated client area.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Build and inspire a culture of integrity, accountability and inclusive practice across Deakin to ensure alignment of all functional and operational business plans to Deakin’s strategic plan
• Lead with clear direction while enabling devolved problem solving and provide expert leadership and ensure solutions are leading practice and sustainable
• Use an in-depth understanding of Deakin’s operating environment and its drivers to translate complex issues into clear and understandable strategies and goals for Deakin and formulate potential courses of action to achieve objectives
• Overcome resistance to change and manage complex stakeholder issues that are integral to the change process and show integrity and empathy for individuals facing a loss from change or innovation
• Empower people to question existing policies, processes and systems in order to improve or be more creative and innovative
• Seek understanding of the University environment by accurately perceiving organisational, political and social dynamics and proactively navigate the stakeholder environment to avoid unwanted or unproductive reactions and consequences
• Create a sustainable climate of service excellence, encourage and support others to see situations from the client’s perspective and systematically measure client satisfaction and implement improvement strategies to more effectively meet client needs
• Role model high performance in stressful circumstances, foster positive attitudes to change, turn challenging situations into opportunities and coach others through adversity

To be successful, you’ll have:

• Proven expertise in the management of significant human and material resources
• Postgraduate qualifications majoring in business, finance or accounting, and extensive relevant experience within a complex financial and resource management environment
• Proven experience driving forward initiatives with non-financial stakeholders to achieve operational and strategic outcomes
• Professional experience as a commercially savvy accountant with experience in finance, business and commercial matters and an outstanding track record in the management of large-scale budgets and financial performance for a complex organisation
• Proven experience in business operations management, strategy, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation
