• Based at Geelong Waurn Ponds campus
• Full-time and fixed-term until December 2023
• HEW 4 ($69,948 – $69,905 plus 17% superannuation)

The HR Support Officer, HR Central is to provide day-to-day administrative HR support services to a wide variety of staff and visitors, ensuring data accuracy and integrity and timely escalation of more complex human resources aspects to the relevant team members. This is delivered through a ‘client management’ integrated service approach for a designated client portfolio by partnering with key internal HR Division (HRD) and area based staff to deliver on HR administration needs.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Process and maintain people and position related records in the University’s HR System in a timely manner ensuring the accuracy and quality of data input.
• Provide high quality and timely support for a range of HR services for designated client portfolio.
• Support the Senior HR Adviser and HR Adviser in the provision of first level advice for general HR enquiries, managing the flow of incoming and outgoing written correspondence and phone calls and providing accurate advice on the application of the Deakin University Enterprise Agreement, HR policies and procedures, and escalating more complex enquiries when needed
• Manage the daily integration of employee records from the University’s Recruitment System into the University’s HR System, amending errors as appropriate and supporting the recruitment team and faculty based staff with feedback and training to ensure minimal staging of records.
• Assist with the implementation and rollout of various local or University-wide HR projects, providing timely and high quality support.
• Contribute to a team based culture of quality and continuous improvement and high level customer service and maintain up to date knowledge of best practice approaches and new initiatives in HR administration and advisory services. You will have demonstrated experience in a similar advisory position, highlighting your ability to exercise sound judgement and knowledge of HR practices, ideally in a large complex organisation. You will be a positive team player, with a strong ability to adapt to changing priorities whilst effectively managing workload and customer expectations. You will be a natural communicator and enjoy conceptual thinking to diagnose problems and suggest improvements.

To be successful you will have:

• Completion of an associate diploma level qualification with relevant work experience or a certificate level qualification with post-certificate relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
• Experience in the provision of HR and/or Payroll services in a large complex organisation.
• Demonstrated experience working with complex HR systems.
• Sound knowledge in aspects of payroll or personnel administration and a working knowledge of legislative requirements and practices in relation to payroll and/or superannuation matters.
• High level written and verbal communication skills.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills with an ability to relate to staff at all levels.
• Proven ability to work as part of a team in a client service environment and as part of a collaborative work team.
• High level data entry skills, accuracy and attention to detail.
