Deakin University Hiring for Casual Research Assistant Full Time

Salary Rate: $43.47 per hour (+ 10% superannuation)

Employment Type: Casual

Location: Working remotely, with the option of coming into the GLOBE office once/twice a week (Deakin Burwood campus)

The role:

We’re seeking a casual Research Assistant with an interest in public health and nutrition to join our team. The candidate will ideally start from early March 2023, with work anticipated to finish by June 2023, with a minimum commitment EFT 0.4 or 2 days/week (although this can be flexbile).

The candidate will work on a range of research projects related to food and nutrition policy. One project focuses on evaluating the nutrition policies of major Australian companies, including food and beverage manufacturers, quick service restaurants and supermarkets. Work on this project will involve assessing company policies across six nutrition topics, such as their corporate strategy, product composition, nutrition labelling and responsible marketing. We’ll then develop a series of s to present the findings and our recommendations on how food companies can help improve population nutrition and create healthier food environments.

To be successful, you’ll have:

• Minimum qualifications: an undergraduate degree in a relevant health-related field
• Strong interest in public health nutrition
• High attention to detail
• Great with organisation and record keeping
• Clear communication, and able to work well as part of a team and independently
• Familiar with Excel and Word

Your key responsiblities will be to:

• Conducting desk-based audits of company nutrition policies and practice, including gathering information from company websites, sustainability s and other publicly available sources
• Conducting reviews of academic literature
• Data analysis
• Writing up results for publication
