Job Description
-The Group Discovery and Geosciences (GDG) Team aim to deliver significant value to Anglo American via the safe and effective discovery of new mineral endowment through identification of superior value deposits by 2026.

Reporting to the Regional Finance Specialist, the Finance Analyst will provide financial and administrative support to the Australia GDG team.

The role will be rewarding and varied and will involve the following:

• Prepare financial statements and other deliverables on time and to a high standard.
• Prepare the financial statement for statutory audit and liaise with external auditors, in compliance with statutory and/or government filing requirements applicable to GDG operations in various jurisdictions.
• Assist with various external and internal audits within GDG.
• Review and monitor accounting controls and policies for GDG Australia, in line with Group accounting controls and policies to ensure risks are mitigated in a timely manner, and to ensure integrity of Group and statutory reporting.
• Responsible for preparing, consolidating, and submitting monthly and projected annual budget workbooks for Discovery plans annual budget to aligned with GDG financial plan.
• Monitor, review, and process invoices for payment and prepare transfer/accrual journal as required.
• Accountable for monthly reporting of financial expenditure against budget and forecast.
• Ensure payments to be made follow internal procedures and compliance.
• Work with Group Supply Chain to support with procurement and supplier on-boarding process.

Qualifications
-Role-specific experience & knowledge:

• Demonstrated financial and accounting experience.
• Experience in the mining or resources sector is desirable.
• High level of analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritise and complete tasks in a timely manner.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and large ERP systems.
• Demonstrated experience using SAP would be advantageous.

Qualifications:

• Tertiary degree in Commerce or Accounting.
• CPA/CA professional designation or close to completion.
