DBS Data is currently looking for a SQL Developer/DBA to join their data management team. This is an exciting time to join a team with a nice family feel and excellent working environment. The SQL Developer/DBA will be working alongside the Data team maintaining and developing in-house applications and processes.
The SQL Developer/DBA will administer/develop the SQL Databases and provide input to the database architecture.
You should be a resourceful professional with good problem-solving skills and experience of SQL server software, performing database administration from the command line as well as through graphical tools and administering Analysis Services performance and resources.
As a SQL Developer/DBA, you will spend your days designing and building systems for collecting, processing, and storing data.
Your role will require you to design new data warehouses using relational database design fundamentals.
Strong experience of MS SQL Server (preferably SQL 2016 or later), with knowledge of database administration (security, backups, jobs) and T-SQL (procedures, views, performance tuning etc.) and SSIS (knowledge of server deployment model would be useful).
You will be able to connect data with multiple front-end technologies such as MS Excel, MS Access, and Business Intelligence systems (e.g., PowerBI)
Working with multiple sources of both bulk and niche datasets with the ability to integrate them with in house data warehouses. Experience in extracting insight and identifying patterns from multiple data sources would be a preferred.
Ideally will have experience of automating extracts and reports using a variety of tools. You will be familiar with data profiling and data analytics techniques and able to advise non-technical staff about these results.
Quick to learn and contribute to the structure of the DBS data asset.
You will be highly numerate and extremely good at problem solving.
You will be competent in at least one scripting language in addition to SQL (c#, python etc.)
You will either have a relevant degree and at least 3 years’ experience in a similar role or at least 7 years’ experience in a similar role.
Ideally you will have experience of making high level contribution on a data strategy on both database development and technology.
