Dakota State University Hiring for Administrative Assistant (Financial Aid) Full Time

Dakota State University is seeking applications for a full-time Administrative Assistant I in the Financial Aid Office.

Responsibilities:

• Answer phone calls/emails, direct phone calls and walk-in traffic where appropriate.
• Counsel students/families and answering staff questions about students’ financial aid.
• Assist students with financial aid applications.
• Assemble financial aid packets.
• Correspond with students and parents regarding missing information for loan requirements.
• Interview, hire, and supervise student office assistant hired through the Federal Work Study program.
• Maintain compliance with Federal Direct Loan counseling and MPN requirements.
• Create s and monitor student records.
• Process pre-claim notification letters.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to work well with other employees, students/families, and the general public.
• Knowledge of basic bookkeeping, computer software applications, and basic IRS tax filing rules and forms.
• Ability to gather, compare, and summarize data from a variety of sources.
