Dakota Hotel based in Manchester city centre are seeking a finance professional with hospitality experience for the role of Assistant Finance Manager to join our team.

Our luxury hotel opened in May 2019 and has been awarded by the Caterer two years in a row as one of the top 15 places to work in hospitality. We are centrally located in the Piccadilly Basin, situated on Ducie Street, close to Piccadilly Station ideally located for public transport users.

We are home to 137 luxury bedrooms, including 27 suites – the most in the city, a destination cocktail bar with champagne room, and a brasserie style grill with private dining rooms as well as a spectacular terrace.

CONTRACT AND REWARD

The role carries a permanent contract of 40 hours per week working Monday-Friday (timings are flexible for the individual). The pay rate is a gross annual salary of £30,000 plus an incentive-based bonus with the potential to earn up to an additional £3,000pa, plus financial support of up to £2000 towards professional qualifications.

PRIMARY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

The role is responsible for assisting in the management of all aspects of the finance function at the hotel. This includes:

• Following company accounting practices, carrying out regulatory and financial reporting, preparing the monthly management accounts, and ensuring day to day accounting tasks are completed timely and accurately.
• Work as part of the hotel management team, supporting the operational team in training and providing them with financial reporting to help support the business meet its financial goals.
• Implementing and monitoring internal audit procedures to ensure all financial statements are accurate and a true reflection of business performance and expenditure.
• Ensuring all revenue is captured and posted accurately, following up on any discrepancies.
• Ensuring the completion of daily tasks including the reconciling of cash and card payments received, performing float audits, and controlling all cash held on site.
• Overseeing the purchase ledger process, and reporting against actual spends compared to budgets.
• Support in the management of the finance team, providing coaching, training and motivation within the department.

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS

The successful applicant will have/be:

• At least 2 years working experience in a hospitality setting (essential).
• At least 3 years working experience in an accounting and finance role (essential).
• Knowledgeable in using all Microsoft Office programs, including Excel at an intermediate level or above.
• Qualified or part-qualified with AAT / ACCA / CIMA or a relevant degree (desired).
• A strong and driven numerically minded individual, determined to always meet the financial objectives of the company.
• A strong communicator with proven leadership skills and a demonstrable team player.
• A proactive individual who is goal orientated and a natural problem solver.
