GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Accounting Assistant is responsible for data entry, clerical support duties, and assisting the Business Office team in the day-to-day coordination and operation of the billing department.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES:
Essential Job Duties:
1. Ensures accurate data entry into the billing system for resident/patient billing.
2. Answers, transfers, and promptly responds to phone calls.
3. Records and prepares resident, insurance, and miscellaneous cash/check deposits.
4. Conducts weekly audit of company purchase card.
5. Reviews accounts payable invoices for accuracy and submits invoices for payment.
6. Welcomes and directs residents, employees and visitors to the office.
7. Manually enters miscellaneous charges onto resident accounts.
8. Schedules appointments for supervisors and Executive Director.
Other Job Duties:
1. Maintains backup and supporting documents for various audit/survey purposes.
2. Maintains account records and storage binders in an orderly fashion.
3. Maintains filing system.
4. Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.
5. Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
6. Drafts communication for department manager and distributes accordingly.
7. Maintains office supplies and coordinates maintenance of office equipment.
8. Facilitates package pick up and mail distribution for the Business Office.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Associate’s Degree or higher preferred, with knowledge of accounting and office machines.
2. Data entry or personal computer experience necessary.
3. Accounting/Bookkeeping experience preferred; will train.
4. Proven ability with computer and communication skills.
5. Required knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products.
6. Preferred 2+ years’ experience in an office or other professional environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be able to sit at a desk for up to six hours per day; must be able to stoop, bend, stretch, and squat to access files and various documentation; must be able to lift up to 20 pounds frequently; may be exposed to a constant noise level due to the printers located in the office.
