Contract extensions: 12 months – subject to being found suitable in the mandatory Organisational Suitability Assessment.

Security clearance: Must have current negative vetting level 1 clearance (Must be Australian Citizen)

Rates: $120 – $140 per hour (inc. super)

The Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) within the Australian Signals Directorate requires software developers able to deliver effective capability solutions.

The Software Developer will be accountable under broad direction to interpret specifications, technical designs to build, maintain and modify the code or adaptation data for software applications, construct technical specifications from a business functional model, and tests and write technical documentation.

The positions are full time on-site in our Canberra offices and require at a minimum an active NV1 clearance.

Note: Organisational Suitability Assessment – An Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) is a mandatory requirement for contracted staff working in ASD beyond 12 months. Before submitting an applicant for this position, they must have considered their preparedness for questions that may include the following topics: personal relationships, living circumstances, personal values, financial situation, physical and mental health history including substance use, and any civil and/or military record.

OSA’s are conducted to determine suitability to work in a high security environment. All employees must obtain and maintain the required security clearance to work in ASD.

Essential Criteria

• Demonstrated competence with Python and/or similar experience with other scripting languages, including testing of code.
• Demonstrated competence with AWS, DynamoDB, S3 and API Gateway.
• API development experience using Cloud based solution or COTS products, including good knowledge of rate limits, throttling and securing the API and documentation (i.e. using Swagger)
• Experienced in developing and deploying software within a Linux / Unix environment.
• Proven ability to work in a team environment and contribute ideas. Experience working within an AGILE delivery team is desirable.
• Ability to document technical processes in accordance with organisational policies and procedures and be able to promote bi-directional knowledge transfer within a team environment.
• Worked on middleware platform using design pattern (Pub-Sub and broadcast).

Desirable Criteria

• Experience in the Cyber Security or related domain would be highly regarded.
• Experience in the use of automation and deployment tools is desirable. CI/CD and test automation experience, preferably with Azure Devops.
