Cycles of Change is a 24 year old, PoC-run collective non-profit dedicated to improving the lives of East Bay residents by providing bicycle education and services for youth and adults.
About the Programs
Cycles’ Safety/DYB program is part of Alameda County’s Safe Routes to Schools partnership which creates opportunities for kids to walk and bike to and from school, with a particular emphasis on low-income schools. Drive Your Bike serves elementary, middle, and high schools throughout the East Bay. Educators co-teach single and multi-day bike safety courses to classes of 15 to 50 students covering basics of safety and mechanics and the rules of the road.
Cycles’ Bike Club program is an afterschool program operating out of four East Oakland middle and high schools. Bike Clubs meet 1-2 times a week for 8-12 weeks. Students embark on pedal-powered adventures that include urban geography, watershed education, riding safety, and mechanics lessons, all while building community and gaining independence through bike-centric exploration.
