They are looking to recruit an experienced, highly flexible and motivated Senior PostgreSQL DBA/Developer for the Data Analytics function to build, support and evolve the database environments. The role is on an initial 6 month contract and is inside IR35.

This is an experienced DBA role providing expertise in database development and administration to an integrated programme team. The candidate will be working alongside another experienced (permanent) DBA and a junior DBA.

Technical responsibilities:

• Management and administration of existing production and non-production database environments
• Production support and management of associated system components
• Perform database design, modification, development, security, backup, tuning, and maintenance activities
• Analyze and resolve application performance issues in coordination with customers and other Database Administrators (DBA)
• Ensuring integration of SOW requirements and project plans between major project activities
• Documenting processes and procedures and ensuring compliance with Boeing and partner database standards, practices and methodologies inclusive of security, hardware, software, and configuration management

Essential Skills:

• In-depth experience in developing and running a data warehouse, tasks including tracking data changes, migration, archiving and monitoring data systems.
• Experience in PostgreSQL and Oracle database stacks.
• Experience in applying security at different levels and set schema permissions
• Audit logins & database users, schema permissions and configuring database alerts
• Knowledge of UNIX/Linux/Windows operating system internals including shell scripting
• Knowledge of database Backup/Recovery techniques including database clustering techniques on varied database technologies
• Knowledge of management of dimensional models, SQL scripting (preferably in DBT)
• Experience using ER Studio modeling tool
• Knowledge of using Splunk to monitor, audit logins & database users and to configure database alerts
• Familiarity with tools like Jira, Github and Kanban boards

Desirable Skills:

• Knowledge of Data Analytics platforms
• Experience of creating reports in Tableau
• Automation and Devops experience
• Knowledge of working within an agile development team

The job holder must not be constrained by a rigid job specification and be willing to pick up additional duties as necessary. They must be enthusiastic and “hands on” in their approach and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. They must be comfortable interacting with colleagues at all levels within the organization and be confident representing to external and internal project teams.

The current work location is Bristol with an expectation that the candidate will work from home with occasional travel for meetings to Bristol on a weekly/fortnightly basis. Working hours can be flexible but the candidate will be expected to join morning standups at 0830 daily.
