CWU, Inc. is seeking a full-time Accounts Payable Clerk

Location: Tampa, FL

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Accounts Payable Clerk will directly support the CFO and Staff Accountant in carrying out the responsibilities of the Finance Department. In this position, you will undertake a variety of financial and non-financial tasks. You are responsible for processing all invoices received for payment and for undertaking the payment of all creditors in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment
• Process 3-way P.O. matching invoices, up to 100 plus line items
• Prioritize invoices according to cash discount potential and payment terms
• Process checks requests
• Audit and process credit card invoices for payment
• Match invoices to checks, obtain all signatures for checks, and distribute checks accordingly
• 1099 maintenance
• Respond to all vendor inquiries
• Reconcile vendor statements, research, and correct discrepancies
• Assist in month end closing
• Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices
• Assist with other projects as needed
• Perform all other accounting functions as deemed necessary by the Staff Accountant and CFO

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 2+ years of Accounts Payable experience
• High school diploma required, college courses in accounting preferred
• Must have strong work ethics
• Must be well organized and a self-starter
• Must be able to follow standard filing procedures
• Strong attention to detail, professional attitude, reliable
• Proficient in Excel, Word, and 10-key by touch,
• Deltek experience is a must!
• Possess strong organizational and time management skills
• Strong problem-solving skills, basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills
• Thorough knowledge of applicable accounts payable/general ledger systems and procedures, financial chart of accounts and corporate procedures
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
