About the role
Cuvva is looking for a Finance Analyst to join the team to help develop and run a number of important recurring tasks each month. The role will sit within the Finance team and will cover amongst other areas, month end reporting, book-keeping, regulatory and tax reporting, reporting to Underwriters and partnering with other teams to ensure our accounts and processes are always up to date.

Cuvva is growing quickly and keeping ahead of the curve means the Finance team always seeks to make use of the latest technology and establish processes that will scale. As we grow, creating new processes and making changes to existing ones will be a regular occurrence, so you will have to be comfortable with change.

You’ll be working within and supported by an established team that has a broad and deep level of experience, so there will be a great opportunity to improve your own skills and learn from colleagues whilst on the job. Studying for an Accounting qualification alongside this role would be encouraged as we are looking for someone who wants to have a long-term career in finance.

On a day-to-day basis you’ll be: *

• Assisting with month end and delivering to a tight timeframe
• Helping produce reports for management and board packs
• Processing employee expenses and updating employees’ payroll details
• Carrying out Balance Sheet reconciliations for Fixed Assets, Accruals, Prepayments and more…
• Working with the Bookkeeper to perform daily bank reconciliations
• Preparing invoices for payment and carrying out regular short term cash balance forecasts to ensure funds are always available to make payments
• Delivering reports to Underwriters and picking up reconciliations to ensure all cash transfers are being tracked and controlled
• Preparing Regulatory reporting such as VAT Returns and FCA submissions
• Helping to prepare Annual Accounts and working with auditors to deliver the annual audit on time and within budget
• Assisting with our procurement process, managing the renewal and negotiation of significant contracts across the business

You’ll do great here if you

• Are a part-qualified accountant ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent, looking to continue your studies at a company that will support you (3-4 exams completed and passed)
• Have 1 or 2 years’ experience of working within Finance (ideally at a fast-paced Fin-tech scaleup)
• Actively enjoy change and are always looking to improve processes rather than repeat them
• Are able to think creatively and find ways to always be innovating
• Are well organised and able to effectively prioritise your workload to ensure key deliverables are produced on time
• Enjoy and are good at partnering with different people from all departments – working in silo is not an option so establishing relationships is crucial
• Can effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences

It’s a bonus if you

• Have a background in insurance or the broader finance industry
• Are familiar with the latest software used by startup Finance teams – Xero, Looker, Dext, ApprovalMax etc

It’s not for you if

• You aren’t comfortable with change
