Your new role
Curtin’s School of Accounting, Economics and Finance is seeking to enhance its capacity in teaching and research in Finance through the appointment of an agile and innovative PhD qualified Level B Academic on a full-time, continuing basis, commencing early to mid-2023.

The successful applicant will have strong publications (or articles in press) in the area of Investments, Behavioural Finance or Microstructure. In addition, the successful applicant will have a research agenda for continuing this success in the future. In addition, the Finance Discipline is developing strong industry and community links and, to strengthen our activities in this area, we require the successful applicant to have an emerging track record of engagement with industry/community facing research, or evidence of the ability to generate such research and engagement.

Additionally, the successful candidate will have a track record of teaching and learning excellence in Finance, or the potential to develop such a track record.

In this exciting and transformative role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Deliver high quality Finance teaching to undergraduate, honours and postgraduate students.
• Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing reflective improvement in teaching.
• Conduct tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, student field excursions, clinical sessions and/or studio sessions, as appropriate, which stimulate and foster student learning.
• Undertake internationally competitive and high-quality research in Finance.
• Publish/exhibit in high quality refereed Finance journals/outlets in manner consistent with the expectations of the discipline of Finance.
• Contribute to external activities relevant to the discipline/profession and community engagement.

As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered. Only in limited situations will visa sponsorship situations be considered.

Essential Criteria:

• A doctoral qualification in Finance.
• A record of research outputs Finance with publication in high quality refereed academic journals, consistent with an international reputation, or the potential to develop an international reputation, in the field of Finance, in particular, Investments, Behavioural Finance or Microstructure
• Experience, and willingness to be involved, in service and engagement activities within the university environment and with discipline relevant external and community facing stakeholders.
• Successful external grant applications in Finance or related disciplines.
• Experience in providing supervision to higher degree research (HDR) students
• A demonstrated record of achievement in and commitment to excellence in teaching Finance
• Demonstrated achievement in the discipline of Finance through the scholarly development and delivery of high-quality educational courses.
