Library and Customer Assistants – Barrow

Salary: £20,043

Hours: 37 Hours Per Week (2 posts available)

Location: Barrow Library, Barrow-in-Furness

Contract: Permanent

We are seeking to recruit an energetic and highly motivated individual, with great customer service skills to work in our libraries in Barrow.

The role is extremely varied and requires individuals to –

• Be the first point of contact for customers.

• Provide information and deal effectively with customer enquiries, including helping with IT enquiries – face to face, over the phone, written and digital:

• Carry out general library duties, help with the security of buildings and basic health & safety tasks.

• Support a wide range of events and activities for all ages, from singing sessions for pre-school children to helping adults with digital technology.

• Work as part of a team.

Days of work would be Tuesday to Saturday and some evening work would be required.

Successful candidates will have experience of delivering excellent customer service, effective communication skills, an interest literacy and reading, confidence in using digital technology, will enjoy working as part of a team and will have a positive outlook on engaging others with all libraries have to offer.
