About the Opportunity

The Educator – Early Childhood role is responsible for assisting in the delivery of an innovative and educational program that provides a warm and caring environment that enriches and enhances the lives of children attending the centre.

The successful applicant will require:

• Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent approved by ACECQA, or working towards with completion within 12 months
• Valid Working with Children Check Clearance Number
• Child Protection course approved by the NSW Regulatory Authority (s162A Education and Care Services National Law) (or willing to obtain)
• Current First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis Certificate as approved by ACECQA (or willing to obtain)
• Completion of Food Handler/Safety Training (or willing to obtain)
• Proven skills and experience in the following areas:
  • Education and care
  • Customer service
  • Communication skills in written and oral format
  • Computer operating systems
  • Effective time management and organisational skills.

Cumberland City Council has a COVID-19 Vaccination Procedure, which requires all workers to have received the full recommended dosage of a TGA approved COVID-19 vaccination as a condition of employment. Salary: Employment is in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award. This position is placed in Grade 5 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $29.05 to $33.41 per hour, plus superannuation.

The commencement salary will depend upon the successful applicant’s qualifications, experience and competencies.

Conditions of Employment: There are permanent and term contract, full-time and part-time positions available and will be required to work on a roster Monday to Friday, between 6:00am to 6:00pm, and may include split shifts.

These positions are located at Guildford West Children’s Centre, Pemulwuy Children’s Centre and Friend Park Children’s Centre, but may be required to work across any of Council’s 14 Education and Care centres.

• Guildford West Children’s Centre
  • 1 x term contract, full-time position required to work 35 hours per week with access to a Rostered Day Off (RDO) arrangement (until July 2022)
• Pemulwuy Children’s Centre
  • 1 x permanent, part-time position required to work 25 hours per week, over 5 days per week
  • 1 x term contract, full-time position required to work 35 hours per week, over a 4 day week (until November 2022)
  • 1 x term contract, part-time position required to work 14 hours per week
• Friend Park Children’s Centre
  • 2 x permanent, full-time positions required to work 35 hours per week
