Overview

CulinaryLab has reinvented culinary education to match up with the modern-day food industry. Founded in 2016, we are a fast-growing company with a start-up atmosphere. Our tight-knit team consists of almost 40 employees, all passionate about education and the culinary industry. Current and former students speak highly of our Professional and Home Cook programs – we have high ratings on Yelp, Google, and Facebook.

We are searching for an amazing leader to act as Director of Education to oversee development and operations for our culinary, pastry, and entrepreneurship programs. The new role will work closely with our founder to spearhead new programming initiatives and drive overall educational results, meeting key performance indicators (KPIs) while providing the best experience for our team and students. The ideal candidate would be strategic and entrepreneurial in nature and thrive in an environment of continuous growth and development.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with key leaders to understand the school’s vision and execute plans accordingly

• Manage and lead a growing team of 20+ chefs and education professionals across two teams, education and kitchen operations

• Identify potential growth areas by networking with community partners to develop new training programs

• Develop and execute short-term and long-term strategic plans to achieve educational objectives and grow new and existing programming

• Oversee and advise on the development of our new online curriculum, ensuring strong learning outcomes and high student engagement

• Work closely with with the Marketing and Sales teams to support their efforts in recruiting qualified new students

• Explore the latest in teaching and learning technologies and oversee implementation of new tech at CulinaryLab

• Ensure that facilities are maintained with high standards for cleaning, maintenance, and food quality

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Five or more years of culinary education leadership experience

• Five or more years of kitchen operation experience

• Ability to lead and coach others to meet professional development goals regularly

• Ability to work well with diverse populations of business/community leaders, students, instructors, and staff;

• Strong problem-solving, coordination and negotiating skills;

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong public speaking ability;

• Comfortable and adaptable with learning new applications

• Goal-oriented and a self-starter who thinks outside the box

• Ability to confidently work with new ideas and adapt to change

• Knowledge of teaching technologies and an interest in learning more

Schedule | Location

• 50 hours per week

• Monday through Friday with some weekends

• Based in both Downtown Santa Ana and North Tustin

Compensation

• $80K annually plus incentives

• Medical and dental coverage

• 10 days PTO and 12 holidays

Pay: $80,000.00 per year
