THE ROLE: GROW ASSISTANT – BUSBY, ALBERTA.

We are seeking a Grow Assistant to join our growing Alberta Grow Centre team. This site is located in Busby, Alberta. Reporting to the Head Grower, the Grow Assistant will assist with propagation, seeding, plant movement, spacing, and irrigation of plants under controlled climate, complete daily key operational checklists (including nutrition and fertilizer checks) and will confidently operate CubicFarm machinery. The Grow Assistant must have a valid Driver’s License and vehicle as public transportation is not available to the site.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
No experience required.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS:
Must have valid Driver’s license, clean driver’s abstract and a reliable vehicle (no public transportation is available to this site).

Comfortable driving a large delivery truck.

Capable of physical tasks for crop related trials and production.

Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift approximately 25 lbs. of weight.

Must be able to work well with others in a team environment.

Ability to pay attention to detail and ensure all tasks are completed correctly.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Use CubicFarm technology to grow amazing crops and cultivate product from seed to store shelf.

Assist with propagation, seeding, plant movement, spacing, and irrigation of plants under controlled climate.

Complete daily key operational checklists, including nutrition and fertilizer checks.

Confidently operate CubicFarm Machinery. Demonstrate proper cultivation and harvest techniques; guide and assist any other tasks that need to be worked on.

Follow and adhere to all given instructions including work procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

Respect very tight development periods to reach substantial results in a limited timeframe, due to the start-up nature of the company.

Maintain tools, equipment, and facilities, keep farm and all facilities clean, tidy and organized.

Drive delivery truck as needed.

Assist with tasks required by CubicFarm Support Services (i.e. plug tray preparation or other consumables).

Be encouraging, supportive and appreciative of all volunteers that come to the farm and share with them the values of supporting local and sustainable food systems in our community.

Work early morning, afternoon, and weekend shifts as required.

Other duties as required.
