Job Overview:
The R&D Technologist works under the supervision of an R&D Manager and at the direction of Product Developers within the Meat & Emerging Protein Group to assist in the development of beef, pork, poultry, and plant-based products. The ideal candidate will have a science-based education, knowledge of meat processing, proactive approach to fulfill development tasks, and professional maturity.
Responsibilities:
- Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner to meet project objectives and
- Maintain all R&D areas, ensure that it is clean, organized, and disposable supplies are
- Follow all food safety GMPs, SSOPs, and general safety
- Manage the shipment of customer samples, ensuring all samples are accompanied with the proper paperwork, samples are packed securely, samples are logged correctly, and that the samples themselves are of the highest
- Manage the inventory of customer samples, essential raw materials, as well as, new raw materials and proactively provide updates to developers when short or obsolete supplies are observed.

Execute Bench Development as directed by Product
- Procure and prepare raw materials; set-up equipment, execute development and record all critical
- Suggest formula or process modifications based on observations during
- Analyze data using statistical tools and present to the Product
- Propose experimental designs to achieve the customer’s product target or to solve a technical
- Draft Product Data Sheet and present to Developer

Participate in the Commercialization of approved bench samples to large-scale production, under the direction of the Product Developer.
- Draft Manufacturing Instructions, as directed by the Product Developer

Assist Product Developers in executing plant
- Proactively check if all equipment is correctly set
- Monitor product performance at each step in the
- Record data and observations throughout the plant
- Present data in an orderly and concise
- Record plant trial yield data and
- Submit or perform analytical testing on samples, as Organize and record all test results.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Perform sensory testing; analyze and present data to Product
- Conduct nutritional assessments using a nutritional program (Genesis).
- Draft official name and ingredient statements taking into consideration USDA/FDA
- Lead development of Service Projects – raw material, process, or food safety changes to existing
- Available to travel up to 50% of the time for CTI business
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in the biological sciences (Meat Science, Food Science, Biology, Nutrition, )
- Associate Degree candidates also considered

- Microsoft Office Suite
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Certifications evidencing knowledge in a pertinent area of interest (for example, USDA Labeling Certificate)
