We are seeking a Communication Advisor – Education to provide communication support and advice to the STEM Professionals in Schools initiative, delivered by CSIRO Education & Outreach. The role of communication staff in CSIRO is to support the delivery of science and innovation through the provision of effective communication, either within or outside CSIRO, to enhance CSIRO’s brand and promote its capabilities.

As the Communication Advisor – Education you will lead the development of communication strategies to support the program and deliver high impact communication activities, working with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

Your duties will include:

• Confidently create integrated, high impact and measurable campaigns for STEM Professionals in Schools.
• Proactively identify opportunities to effectively reach key audiences across industry, government, media, and CSIRO employees.
• Participate enthusiastically as part of CSIRO’s broader Corporate Affairs function, which works on an account management model with a focus on flexibility and cooperation.
• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships internally and externally to deliver effective service and fulfil communication goals.
• Manage constructive relationships with external agencies to deliver campaign objectives.
• Efficiently manage all aspects of high-profile integrated marketing and communication activities with multiple stakeholders.
• Show initiative and work effectively as a member of a distributed team to deliver high quality outcomes with autonomy.
• Deliver effective communication outcomes using sound judgment, applying contemporary communication skills.
• Generate improved solutions in work situations, trying creative ways to adapt to and deal with problems and opportunities.

Location: Negotiable – Brisbane, QLD; Canberra, ACT; Clayton, VIC; Newcastle or Sydney, NSW

Salary: AU$85k – AU$96k plus up to 15.4% superannuation

Tenure: Part Time – 0.6 FTE – 3 days per week – Specified term of 12 months

To be considered you will need:

• Demonstrated experience in the development of high-profile communication plans and the ability to manage projects, including application in areas such as public relations, marketing, government affairs or internal communication.
• A history of providing sound audience-focused communication advice e.g., building an understanding of client needs, delivering information relevant to diverse audiences, and appropriate channel selection.
• Demonstrated understanding of, and experience in, the following areas:
  • Employee engagement;
  • Strategic communication;
  • Marketing communication;
  • Public relations;
  • Stakeholder engagement.
• The ability to work effectively in a team environment, proactively collaborating and consulting with internal and external stakeholders, as well as sharing resources to accomplish objectives.
• Demonstrated ability and willingness to find workable solutions to complex problems and resolve complaints using creativity, reasoning and past experience.

Eligibility
