We are looking for an Association of Accounting Technician (AAT) trainee to join our National Finance team.

AAT Apprentice

Our AAT apprentice will be required to have BBC (or equivalent UCAS points) from 3 A levels or equivalent. Preference will be given to people with A Level Accountancy but this is not essential. GSCE grade 5 or above in Maths and English Language. The right candidate will have a desire to forge a career in accountancy and study for their AAT qualifications.

The role is based in the National Finance department and will cover a wide variety of tasks. As part of the overall National Finance function, to assist and support the Purchase Ledger, Credit Control and Management Accounts teams. The apprentice will gain experience across all functions of the department.

Main responsibilities will include

• To assist in providing a professional and timely accounting service in respect of coding, processing and payment of purchase invoices.
• To check and process employee expenses, and raise payments.
• To assist in the preparation and coding of daily cashbooks and process journals as required.
• To assist in producing reports as required.
• To assist in the analysis of financial data as required.
• To undertake general clerical work on behalf of the Finance department.
• Attend training provider as and when required and meet deadlines of training provider.
• Other duties of an appropriate nature and level may also be required.

Skills and Abilities

• To have good numerical skills and an interest in Finance.
• To be able to communicate in a professional manner effectively, by email, telephone and in person.
• Strong motivation and commitment to acquire new skills and learn all aspects of the role.
• The ability to apply the principles of confidentiality.
• Technology literate and good knowledge of Excel an advantage.
• Ability to work to deadlines and prioritise accordingly.
• Adaptable and willing to undertake duties commensurate to the post as may be reasonably required.
