We are currently working with a major engineering contractor based in Birmingham who are looking to recruit a Senior Engineer to work at the Wednesbury Depot. As Senior Engineer you will report to the Construction Manager and will be responsible for providing engineering leadership and coaching whilst aiding efficient delivery of key client expectations and contract requirements whilst undertaking all aspects of Building and Civil Engineering functions. As Senior Engineer you will ensure the compliance with all Engineering and Quality procedures together with safe working practices carrying out all works to the highest possible Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.

As Senior Engineer your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Acting as the main Engineering & technical manager on site for Depot Project
• Accountability for the Setting out, levelling, and surveying the site
• Checking plans, drawings, and quantities for accuracy of calculation
• Ensuring that all materials used, and work performed are as per specifications
• Overseeing the selection and requisition of materials and plant
• Making cost-effective solutions and proposals for the intended project
• Overseeing quality control and health and safety matters on site in line with ITP process
• Resolving any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise
• Efficient deployment of company resource with a good understanding of output and project efficiencies, task identification and leadership
• Ensure Right First-Time approach to all work. Zero defect
• Monitor plant / equipment efficiency avoiding unnecessary costs and damage
• Maintain professional approach positively reflecting the image of the company
• Ensure works are carried out in a safe manner adhering to site specific Risk Assessment and Method Statements
• Responsible for personnel welfare and adherence to CDM requirements
• Deliver/ Attend inductions/ toolbox talks/ all appropriate briefings
• Provide leadership and direction to individuals assigned to ensure the safe and efficient discharge of the works to specification and to a good standard of quality

Job requirements

• Appropriate Engineering Degree qualification
• Minimum 5-year experience in similar role
• Professionally qualified
• CSCS Supervisor/ Management card
• SMSTS and PTS
• Highly proficient with setting out techniques
• CAD experience
• Working knowledge of Health and Safety/ CDM responsibilities
• Experienced of NEC and ICE contracts
• Knowledge of safety, quality, and environmental procedures
• Knowledge of commercial and financial procedures
• Reinforced earth, retaining wall and ground remediation experience
• Demonstrable experience of plant, labour, and materials management and cost control
