Job description for Senior Engineer – Tunnel Ventilation 

EXTEND YOUR POTENTIAL WITH A GLOBAL TEAM OF EXPERTS 

We are looking for a Senior Tunnel Ventilation engineer to join our MEP team in London, giving you the opportunity to co-create on some of the most prestigious infrastructure programmes in the UK. 
On a day-to-day basis, you’ll be responsible for:

• Development of design from concept stage through detailed design, including construction support
• Production of engineering design and detail in accordance with project requirements, applicable codes and standards
• Preparing design calculations, drawings and 3D model input
• Writing technical reports and specifications
• Reviewing of reports, specifications, calculations and drawings done by other specialists
• Developing and implementing design best practices and ensuring design conformance 
• Assuring optimum application of internationally recognised tunnel ventilation design methods in accordance with international standards
• Encouraging and undertaking innovative and sustainable thinking around tunnel ventilation system design

Experience required for Senior Engineer – Tunnel Ventilation

Furthermore, you’ll have:

• A degree in Mechanical engineering or similar
• Achieved Chartered Engineer status (or an equivalent professional qualification)
• Relevant experience in tunnel ventilation analysis and design of road tunnels, rail tunnels and metro stations
• Detailed understanding and skills within 1-dimensional tunnel ventilation simulations
• Good understanding of 3-dimensional CFD simulations
• Ability to direct and perform tunnel ventilation design from concept to construction.
• Professional reporting and communication skills in verbal and written form
• Knowledge of temporary ventilation systems
• Knowledge of fire life and safety
