COWART is a leading manufacturer of renewable products for industries throughout the SouthEast, and we are looking to fill the position of Human Resource Generalist at our Sugar Hill, GA. headquarters.

DESCRIPTION:

The Human Resource Generalist will handle the Human Resources function within the company, including employee recruitment / retention / terminations, HR record-keeping and compliance with all related regulations, Payroll processing and other business administration duties.

The ideal candidate will be energetic, self-motivated and a team-oriented problem-solver who works well in a dynamic environment.

The Human Resource Generalist’s responsibilities include:

• Handling the daily workflow of the HR department.
• Managing the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, screening interviews and extending offers to qualified job applicants.
• Handling employee discipline and termination in accordance with company policy, including oversight of employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
• Providing constructive and timely performance evaluations.
• Managing vendor relationships with third-party providers of Benefits and other Human Resources programs.
• Partnering with the leadership team to understand and execute human resource and talent strategy, particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs and succession planning.
• Providing support and guidance to management and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive HR questions and issues arise.
• Handling tasks such as administration of reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
• Collaborating with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for job openings.
• Analyzing trends in compensation and benefits; research and propose competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
• Creating learning and development programs and initiatives that provide development opportunities for employees.
• Maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviewing policies and practices in order to maintain compliance.
• Maintaining knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
• Payroll and commission processing.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
• Experience with ADP (or similar) payroll processing.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
• Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
• Proficient (intermediate-level) with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.).
• Ability to quickly learn the organizations talent management systems.
• Administration of drug and background screenings.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
• A minimum of three years of human resource management experience preferred.
• Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
