Director of Engagement Activities

Reports to: Associate Vice President for Institutional Advancement

Job Summary: The Cottey College Office of Institutional Advancement is seeking a candidate with an intimate understanding of Cottey College and solid industry experience in event planning and public relations. We are looking for a candidate with strong organizational and strategic planning skills who can excel in an exceptionally fast-paced environment. This role requires orchestration and hands-on involvement in all cultivation events and activities; management of event committees, event marketing and promotion for both on- and off-campus events. Working some evenings and weekend attendance, with possible travel, is necessary for this position

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Serves as executive producer to include responsibilities consisting of event communications, event logistics, catering, event setup/teardown, design and decor, negotiating with both internal and external vendors, processing contracts and payments in accordance with College regulations.
• Manages timelines and responsibilities for several different projects at once, often resulting in making quick and decisive solutions
• Performs analysis and makes recommendations for improving programs, events and activities in order to enhance Cottey’s stewardship initiatives.
• Collaborates with the Marketing Department on communications strategy to build the College’s audience and reputation that will engage its constituents.
• Works as a part of the Office of Institutional Advancement’s creative team to drive specific program ideas and event content.
• Prepares quarterly reports for the Board of Trustees on advancement events and activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Have an exceptional talent for creative and innovative thinking.
• Have outstanding competencies in accuracy and attention to detail.
• Effectively manage budgets and negotiate with vendors
• Demonstrate a positive attitude, self-motivation, organization, and resourcefulness while maintaining a reputation through proven action of being service oriented.
• Have the ability to work well under stressful conditions, negotiate different personalities and work under competing priorities while managing a wide variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment without sacrificing the quality of the work.
• Excel in superior one-on-one interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to foster confidence and trust, listen sensitively, and respond appropriately.
• Have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• Have 2 – 4 years of experience in event planning, guest services and strategic stewardship programming, preferably in higher education.

· Possess strong computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office, relational databases, and/or communication platforms.

· Know or quickly learn existing and new technology necessary for virtual events.

· Maintain confidentiality and adhere to the donor Bill of Rights and FERPA regulations.

· Possess a valid driver’s license and willingness to utilize own vehicle as needed.

· Having a prior understanding of Cottey College, its Alumnae, the P.E.O. Sisterhood and P.E.O. structures is a plus, but not required.

Pay: $44,000.00 – $47,000.00 per year
