SEC REPORTING – SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

The role is primarily responsible for assisting with the preparation of client, and certain subsidiaries’, annual and quarterly filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and for the preparation of GAAP financial statements for other applicable reporting requirements. The candidate must be highly motivated and able to work collaboratively in a team environment. A key aspect of this role is developing relationships across various departments at client to gather information relevant to financial reporting. Further, the candidate must be able to analyze and review information provided by others or internally prepared in order to draft relevant disclosures. This position requires a candidate that is able to problem solve and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. The candidate should be willing to contribute to innovation and process-improvement. Strong written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to understand and analyze technical GAAP/SEC guidance are critical.
Primary duties include:
1. Preparation of financial statements and disclosures, as assigned, for potential inclusion in Form 10-K/Q, other filings with the SEC, financial reporting requirements for debt covenant compliance and/or employee benefit plan filings with the U.S. Department of Labor.
2. Create and maintain appropriate supporting documentation to ensure compliance with applicable internal control requirements.
3. Review information prepared and/or provided by others to be included in various filings.
4. Analyze compliance with disclosure requirements.
5. Evaluate disclosure requirements related to client business events.
6. Assist in reviewing XBRL associated with certain SEC filings.
7. Routinely coordinate with various teams within client as it pertains to financial reporting needs.
8. Coordinate with internal and external auditors.
9. Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Requirements
1. Bachelor’s Degree in accounting preferred.
2. 5+ years general accounting experience or 4+ years working in public accounting (A Master’s degree can count towards one year of experience. A partial year of six months or more will be rounded up to one year).
3. CPA or CPA candidate preferred; strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles is a requirement.
4. SOX experience is preferred.
5. Energy industry experience or experience with financial reporting preferred.
6. Ability to show ownership over tasks assigned, seeing items though from start to finish with relative independence.
7. Ability to contribute innovative ideas and process improvement suggestions and see those changes through to implementation.
8. Effective communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
9. Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic business environment.
Certification and Other Qualifications
Appropriate certification.
Basic Qualifications

2. Experience in public accounting (public accounting firm) strongly preferred.
3. Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
