Job overview
We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic people to work with us in creating an innovative IAPT service, informed by a cutting-edge evidence base. Post holders will work in the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly IAPT service to provide service suitability assessments and deliver Low Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) based interventions (courses, cCBT, face to face, telephone and video guided self-help appointments). Alongside completing the Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (Trainee PWP) programme of training at the University of Exeter to learn how to provide a range of Low Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) based approaches for clients with mild to moderate common mental health problems such as anxiety and depression. We will provide you with high quality, regular supervision and in service training opportunities to embed your University learning. You will also be part of our friendly and experienced team who are committed to supporting our community.

Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly recognise the importance of Improving Access to Psychological Therapy (IAPT) for our community, and Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is investing substantially in our IAPT service, Outlook South West, to improve care. It is an exciting time to join the team as we grow and develop to deliver a high-quality psychological therapy service which is forward thinking and innovative.
We are looking for energetic and passionate people to contribute to creating an innovative and trailblazing IAPT service, informed by a cutting-edge evidence base. Post holders will work in the Outlook South West IAPT service to provide high volume, low intensity assessments, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) based interventions (guided self-help, courses, digital platforms, video, and telephone contacts), whilst completing the Trainee PWP programme of training at the University of Exeter. Post holders will attend the Trainee PWP training at the University of Exeter to learn how to provide a range of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) based approaches for clients with mild to moderate common mental health problems such as anxiety and depression.

Knowledge and abilities
Essential criteria
- Demonstrates an understanding of anxiety and depression and how it may present in Primary Care
- Ability to manage own caseload and time
- Applicants should demonstrate evidence of interpersonal skills to engage and develop working alliances with colleagues and patients
Desirable criteria
- Worked in a service where agreed targets in place demonstrating clinical outcomes
Skills and Aptitude
Essential criteria
- Evidence of working with people who have experienced a mental health problem
- Ability to evaluate and put in place the effect of training
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including telephone skills
- Able to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients
Desirable criteria
- Fluent in languages other than English
Education / Qualifications and Relevant Experience
Essential criteria
- Relevant undergraduate degree or evidence of previous successful study at RQF level 5 e.g. Foundation Degree, HND, Level 5 NVQ
- Evidence of working with people who have suffered with a mental health problem; work experience includes voluntary or paid work (University stipulates at least 1 years’ experience, which can be part time)
Desirable criteria
- Psychology or other health related undergraduate or postgraduate degree
- Experience of working in Primary Care Services
