Cornwall Insight specialises in research, analysis, consulting, and training in the energy markets, and we are seeking a Financial Controller to join our growing finance team.
The position:

Reporting into the Interim CFO, the Financial Controller is responsible for the financial reporting and financial control for our group of companies. You will be responsible for coaching and developing the finance team to complete correct and accurate accounting activities. You will liaise and work with C Suite Executives and the Executive Team members to assist in the strategic planning and delivery of our group objectives.

The location:

This role will be based in our Norwich office with the option to work remotely from home if preferred as per our agile working policy.

Key Responsibilities

  • To produce group consolidated and individual company monthly management accounts including variance analysis and commentary
  • Annual Budget process from a Finance aspect
  • 3 X Forecast process from a Finance aspect
  • Three Year Plan (TYP) from a Finance aspect
  • To prepare Monthly Board Reporting pack for the Board circulation
  • To manage, maintain and develop the Group’s financial accounting systems, suggesting and implementing improvements where necessary
  • To prepare the Group’s end of year draft accounts and corporation tax computation for review by the external auditors and advisors
  • To define, implement and maintain internal financial processes and accounting policies
  • To plan and assist with the training of members of the finance team, highlighting and assessing their training needs on an ongoing basis
  • To ensure correct insurance cover for the Group is in place and coverage level is appropriate
  • To support the F&A team in the successful upgrading and implementation of new financial systems.
  • To work and liaise with C Suite Executives (CEO and CFO) and Exec Team Managers to support Strategic planning and delivery
  • To ensure the Group complies with relevant tax legislation, legal and company secretarial matters liaising with the Group’s external accountants and solicitors where appropriate
  • To keep up to date with relevant company law and tax legislation and undertake appropriate continuous professional development as required by your accountancy qualification

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

  • International corporate accounting and finance reporting experience
  • Experience in forecasting and budgeting and contributing to strategic planning and delivery
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to forge relationships across our group and geographies
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player
  • Experienced Finance leader who can develop and progress trainee finance team members
