Corning Museum of Glass Hiring for Cloud Software Developer at Corning, NY Full Time

Summary:

Responsible for working within the IT team to estimate, plan and execute cloud software initiatives for The Corning Museum of Glass (‘Museum’) and support existing applications and projects. The Cloud Software Developer works collaboratively in the support, strategy, management, and delivery of cloud projects from design to implementation for the Museum. Works collaboratively with Museum stakeholders throughout the development process to verify requirements, set expectations, and provide status updates.

Responsibilities:

Software Development

• Designs and develops utilities and integration that facilitate communication between applications.
• Designs and develops data sources with MS SQL and other databases to meet Museum needs.
• Manages design and architecture for Museum intranet.
• Leverages identity, single sign on, and automation tools to simplify access and mobility.
• Maintains software development life cycle through development methods and best practices in design, development, commenting/documentation, testing, and deployment.
• Establishes and maintains processes for quality assurance and security monitoring throughout the development lifecycle.
• Designs cloud integrations to strengthen security and mobility of Museum applications for a diverse workforce.
• Integrates custom and third-party applications into Microsoft Teams and SharePoint environment.
• Provides Azure server application support and provisions cloud storage as necessary.
• Develops processes to increase efficiency in file management and retention across cloud and on-premises file storage.
• Reviews and research third-party application needs within the MS Teams and Office 365 cloud services.
• Maintains industry-standard source control repository in Git of all development work.
• Develops technical specifications and data flow documents for applications and cloud services.
• Works collaboratively with members of the Digital Media development team.

General

• Supports and amplifies the Museum’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access.
• Assumes a team lead role for technical projects as requested.
• Actively participates in IT team meetings and serves on Museum matrix teams, as needed.

Qualifications:

• Respect and exemplify the values of The Corning Museum of Glass in all interactions with colleagues, staff, volunteers, and the public.
• Ability to represent the Museum in a professional manner.
• Bachelor’s degree required in Information or Computer Science or related fields of study.
• Two years of cloud software or related development experience desired.
• Experience with full stack development using languages such as C#, .Net, NodeJS, and Python, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and JavaScript frameworks (Vue, React).
• Proficiency with MS SQL database at intermediate level.
• Experience working with containers and container orchestration tools, such as Docker and Kubernetes desired.
• Experience working within an agile development environment and with agile development methods.
• Ability to work with staff of varying skill levels and technical proficiencies and effectively communicate complex concepts, excellent verbal communication skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $58,000.00 – $68,000.00 per year
