Position Purpose: Food and food service delivery Drivers fulfill a critical role in the country’s food supply chain. Our delivery drivers not only make sure the customers’ products arrive at their destination at the arranged times and in good condition, but they are the face of our company – building lasting relationships with our customers!

Primary Responsibilities: The AZ Linehaul Driver is responsible for driving A-Trains on local and national highways, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight and drive and drop routes for the purpose of delivering and/or unloading food and food related products to customers in a safe and timely manner.

Communicates and interacts with customers, vendors and co-workers professionally ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and perform any duty assigned to best serve the company.

Scheduled: Sunday to Thursday 4:00 p.m. start, approximately 12-14 hour shifts.

Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

• Performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections of equipment, paperwork, and loaded product.
• Required to pull A-Train from Ottawa, ON depot yard to Milton distribution centre, unhook at Milton yard, re-hook empty A-Train/trailers and return to Ottawa, ON.
• Experience with trains and dolly’s an asset.
• Maintaining daily electronic driving logs.
• Straight line haul duties
• Drive to destinations as outlined in the manifest in a safe, responsible, manner and in compliance with all laws and transportation regulations.
• Notifying Customer Service with any route changes, time delays, and non-delivered orders.
• Checking-in with customers at each designated account and serving as a Core-Mark representative.
• Finding solutions to possible challenges with the assistance of Customer Service.
• Unloading and delivering product to assigned area within account as directed by the customer.
• Assisting Customer Service and Buyers as needed in a prompt, professional manner.
• Checking for credits and processing them according to company guidelines.
• Submitting customer payments and paperwork to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
• Performing other tasks and duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent
• 1 year commercial driving experience
• Must be 21+ years of age
• Meet all Provincial licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable)
• Clean Motor Vehicle (MVR) for past 3 years
• Pass criminal background check
• Pass road test
• Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift; product generally ranges from between 10-35 pounds and up to between approximately 60 and 90 pounds, depending on the location.

  At times linehaul drivers may be required to assist with deliveries directly to our customers.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions:

• Physical ability to lift, unload, and carry totes and bundles up to 30 lbs. repetitively and up to 60 lbs. occasionally, push up to 50 lbs., and move a dolly loaded with up to 250 lbs.
• Physical ability to maneuver loaded hand carts over a variety of inclines and surfaces.
• Physical ability to stand and walk frequently, and be able to drive for a significant period of time.
• Physical ability to occasionally bend, kneel, crouch, climb, or crawl.
• Exposure to a variety of environmental conditions: weather, temperature, lighting, and noise as determined by circumstances at accounts within assigned territory.
