An exciting opportunity exists within one of Australia’s fastest growing 4th Party Logistics (4PL) services businesses, which is seeking an Finance Officer to join our growing team.

The purpose of the Finance Officer role is to assist the Billing and Accounts Team Leader with administrative finance and accounting duties, with key duties on operational level within Accounts Payable and Receivable. There is a key emphasis on cash flow by maintaining, investigating, and resolving credit queries and driving on time collections from customers.

The successful applicant will be responsible but not limited to:

Accounts Receivable

• Ensure on time collections by proactively issuing statements to customers in advance of scheduled payments

• Communicating with customers with overdue payables and document specific commitments regarding outstanding payments

• Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure credit claims are investigated, account balances and credit register are updated

• Ensure adequate records are maintained within MYOB

• Provide weekly updates and recommendations to Billing and Accounts Team Leader regarding trading customers

• Provide regular debtors reporting as required by the Billing and Accounts Team Leader

Accounts Payable

• Ensure on time payables to creditors and prioritize payments as directed by the Billing and Accounts Team Leader

• Data entry of invoices received into MYOB and management of accounts payable register

• Follow up on credit requests lodged with suppliers on a regular basis and maintaining detailed credit register

• Accurate reconciliation of supplier statements to invoices received

• Correspondence with suppliers regarding the resolution of any disputed amounts

• Provide regular creditors reporting as required by the Billing and Accounts Team Leader

Financial Administration

• Upload weekly transaction journals and information from billing system into MYOB

• Complete reconciliation of bank accounts and allocate transactions daily

• Develop and maintain customer and carrier credit register

• Assist the Billing Team with invoicing and related tasks where possible
• Ensure the effective utilization of CRM and MYOB to document necessary accounts information

• Adhoc tasks as required by the Billing and Accounts Team Leader to assist with the financial function of the business

Key Performance Indicators

• Days sales outstanding (DSO)

• Days payables outstanding (DPO)

• Quality, accuracy, and attention to detail of systems and record keeping

• Completion of tasks by the statutory date or within the required internal timeframe

The ideal candidate will have:

• Have a minimum of 1 years’ experience in an operational AP/AR Finance Role preferably within a freight / logistics environment or a 4PL services business
• Medium to expertise within Microsoft Excel
• Demonstrate a willingness to work outside of the job description, lending support to other functions
• Have a positive attitude and be able to stay calm under pressure
• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrate excellent time management skills and ability to multitask
