The Role:
The Regional Quality Assurance Specialist position requires a high degree of specialized expertise and skill in maintaining established standards of safety, quality and accuracy. As a leader you must be able to exercise the necessary authority to assure policies and procedures are followed and time frames are met. This position is based out of Blacks Harbour, NB.
Specific responsibilities for this position will include but are not limited to:
Creating and maintaining a QMP plan that meets GFSI;
Manages quality and food safety programs in accordance with organization’s objectives.
Ensures product and documentation requirements are in compliance for regulatory (FDA, State Health Departments, USDC), customer, and third parties.
Research and validate customer complaints and permanent corrective actions
Under direction, address all customer complaints related to quality or other low-risk attribute(s)
Maintain product and packaging specifications database
Maintain Food Safety Quality Management System (FSQMS) database
Evaluating risk assessments and identify gaps;
Education:
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge or certification of USFDA’s Seafood HACCP Guidelines a plus.
Working experience with quality assurance and food safety programs, including third party standards such as GFSI (BRC and SQF).
Travel up to 50% of time to manufacturing locations.
Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in diverse groups and ability to influence others.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Spanish a plus.
Must have excellent computer skills including: MS Word, Excel, Publisher, & PowerPoint.
