Accountant

As part of our continued expansion we are seeking an Accountant to join our growing team on a permanent basis.

Working under the guidance of the Group Financial Controller, the Accountant will have primary responsibility for the preparation of monthly management accounts and other accounting procedures. As part of our finance department this role will work closely with the Group Financial Controller and other finance staff to provide an efficient shared finances function to the wider organisation.

The Role

As an Accountant, you will be responsible for:

• Responsible for the preparation of monthly management accounts, including production of trial balance, general ledger maintenance and preparation of supporting schedules.
• Review and analyse the management accounts to confirm amounts are as per expectations compared to forecast and previous periods and provide detailed variance analysis.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts in accordance with IFRS.
• Preparation of VAT returns based on different countries VAT legislations
• The above also involves working as part of a team to ensure that all accounting processes per the month end procedures are competently performed so all monthly management accounts are prepared on an accurate and timely basis.
• Provide direct support to Group Financial Controller and Director of Finance where required
• Key processes to provide assistance with the preparation of the management accounts include:
  • The processing of purchase invoices and expenses to include, coding, matching against purchase orders, obtaining of relevant approvals and authorisations for payment
  • Preparation of bank reconciliations
  • Preparation, posting and reconciliation of accruals, prepayments and accrued interest
  • Maintenance of fixed asset register
  • Update and reconciliation of all intercompany accounts following the posting of any transactions
• Production of year-end financial statements in accordance with supporting documentation including tax computations for year-end audit.
• Production of reports and other analysis as required by management

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience Required:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role in a Finance Department and strong accounting background.
• Hold/ working towards a relevant Accounting Qualification
• Experience of accounting software packages (knowledge of Sage X3 would be advantageous but not a requirement), with proven ability to learn new software packages.
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office products, in particular Excel.
• Good organisational skills with ability to multi-task and have attention to detail.
• Plans and prioritises work effectively and ensures deadlines are met.
• Proactive approach to issue resolution
• Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
