Job Title: Sr. Accounting Specialist
Responsibilities and Duties:
Accounts Payable
Posts expenses to accounts and cost centers, accrues proper sales taxes by analyzing bills, expense reports, payroll reports, bank statements, credit card statement, etc.
Pays vendors and employees by receiving, verifying, and seeking approval on bills/expense reports and requests for advances, preparing and mailing checks
Responds to all vendor inquiries
Issues purchase orders
Maintains historical records thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices
Prepares analyses of accounts and produces reports based on needs
Continues to improve the payment process
Accounts Receivable
Posts and deposits customer payments by recording checks, ACH and wire transactions
Monitors and prepares accounting receivable aging report
Assists in collecting and preparing data that support invoicing
General Accounting
Processes incoming mails concerning billing and invoicing
Arranges and books travels upon approved requests
Assists in month end closing
Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential
Other responsibilities and duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications:
High school diploma required, college courses in accounting preferred
Must have strong work ethics
Must be well organized and a self-starter
Must be able to follow standard filing procedures
Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable
Proficient in Excel and Word, QuickBooks experience a plus
Possess strong organizational and time management skills
Strong problem-solving skills, basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills
Thorough knowledge of applicable accounts payable/general ledger systems and procedures, financial chart of accounts and corporate procedures
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Ability to interact with employees and vendors in a professional manner
Ability to perform mathematical computations such as percentages, fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division quickly and accurately
