Role Description

Allan Construction is hiring a full-time, on-site Construction Safety Officer. The Construction Safety Officer will be responsible for ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, conducting risk assessments and accident investigations, delivering safety training sessions, and implementing safety protocols on-site. This role requires close collaboration with project teams and employees to promote a safe and secure working environment while continuously improving safety standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Strong working relationship with site supervision and project management to ensure safe methods of work are designed and implemented
• Provide support for assigned areas, including new hire induction
• Participate in and/or provide direction to others conducting incident investigations, including follow up actions to ensure implementation of identified corrective actions
• Guide Joint Health and Safety Committees on safely related matters
• Work with client representatives to resolve identified issues and opportunities
• Consolidate safety reports for project management signoff
• Conduct project level inspections and audits as required by safety program
• Monitor, coordinate, and implement occupational health and safety programs

Qualifications

• 5-10 years of relevant experience in a safety role in the industrial/mining sector will be required
• Certification in Occupational Health and Safety or a relevant field; NCSO (National Construction Safety Officer) designation is an asset.
• Strong knowledge and practical experience in Health & Safety and Occupational Health.
• Proficiency in Accident Investigation and implementing corrective action plans.
• Experience with Security practices related to construction sites.
• Ability to develop and deliver effective Safety Training programs.
• Strong understanding of relevant safety regulations and standards in the construction industry.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills to promote a culture of safety.
• Experience in the construction industry, particularly in Civil, Industrial, or Commercial projects.
• Experience in mine camp work
• working knowledge of heavy equipment and construction terms and processes
