Consolidated Nuclear Security Hiring for NMC&A Accountant Job at Oak Ridge, TN Full Time

Successful candidate will perform detailed nuclear material (NM) studies and analyses, requiring independent judgment in the evaluation and investigation of NM inventories. Performs in-depth and complex data analyses and evaluation of NM inventory differences (ID). Participates in limited violation investigations which may include the development of experiments to support theories and assumptions. May be required to assist in special inventories if evaluations do not resolve out-of-alarm IDs. Must be able to carry out assignments which include the creation and evaluation of new and existing processes to determine most effective methods of accounting for and controlling NM. This may include functioning as a team lead as well as team member. May be required to develop specifications for or perform ad-hoc programming functions to enhance analysis effectiveness. Duties also include regular interfaces with other NMC&A functions, operations personnel and management. Serves as lead in management assessments, procedure reviews, and other integrated NMC&A projects/processes. Uses knowledge of NM forms, compounds, characteristics and associated production processes to provide assurance the inventory has been properly evaluated.

Monitors the day-to-day operations of the Dynamic Special Nuclear Materials Control and Accountability System (DYMCAS) to ensure integrity of nuclear materials inventory data. Under limited supervision makes required adjustments to data in DYMCAS to correctly reflect NM inventory to ensure accountability is maintained. Makes recommendations to management for improving accounting systems design, and performs software acceptance testing for NM&CA systems to ensure that system modifications meet the design specifications and user expectations.

Ensures information from shipment and receipt documents are entered correctly into the Dynamic Special Nuclear Materials Control and Accountability System (DYMCAS) and communicates this information to NMMSS. Conducts research and investigates historical shipments and receipts for various projects and campaigns. Communicates with personnel within the organization, within the Y-12 site, as well as across other DOE and NRC sites.

Performs special studies, specialized data processing, and statistical analysis as requested by CNS Management, and other internal and external customers. Represents NMC&A on project teams, program meetings, and other meetings requiring input from the NMC&A Organization. Successful candidate(s) will represent NMC&A by serving as an interface between other Nuclear Sites regarding the shipping/receiving of NM and the development of Shipper/Receiver Agreements. Will be required to work with program management to create/review Termination of Safeguards documents to ensure that all aspects of NMC&A requirements have been met.

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
