Teesside Operations
ConocoPhillips operates the Teesside terminal. Oil was first received in 1975, and the main processing plant was completed in 1979. The facility was originally designed as a one million barrels/day crude oil reception, processing, storage and trans-shipment installation. The terminal also fractionates natural gas liquids into ethane, propane and butane. Operations comprise both processing and tanker-loading facilities covering a 285-acre site at Seal Sands, at the mouth of the river Tees.
Crude oil and natural gas liquids from ConocoPhillips’ Greater Ekofisk Area fields are delivered to Teesside as well as third party volumes from other fields in the Norwegian and British parts of the North Sea.
UK HR Manager
Manage Human Resources
a. Provide strategic direction to Management on implementing policies and programs & contribute to global HR strategy
b. Management of the union agreement and chairing the management/union committee; leading pay and terms & conditions negotiations including ensuring resolution is reached on Industrial/Employee Relations (IR/ER) issues
c. Interact with all site contractors to ensure IR/ER issues within contractor workforce do not impact ConocoPhillips
d. Coordinate and manage the Employee Consultative Forum and a company elected member of the executive European Works Council Committee
e. Develop strategic workforce plans that facilitate succession planning & talent management and staffing, including the recruitment & induction process.
f. Ensure the People and Organisational Management of Change (MOC) process is fit for purpose and adhered to
g. Responsible for the employee engagement and retention strategy
h. Proactive member of the Global HR Leadership, leading on or participating in strategic projects and initiatives for the group as required
i. Chairperson of the DC Pension Trustee board, ensuring that the scheme is run properly
j. Resolving any HR related legal claims on behalf of ConocoPhillips
Manage Competency & Performance
a. Responsible for ensuring competency of staff is achieved and maintained at the highest level
b. Ensure core contracting companies demonstrate a satisfactory ongoing competency verification of site workforce
c. Support the Human Performance strategies and ensure best practices are integrated into all key activities
Manage Industrial Relations / Employee Relations
a. Responsible for managing the trade union / management negotiations and maintaining good relationships
b. Ensure that contract employee / trade union disputes do not affect the safe operation of the plant
c. Responsible for ensuring Employee Consultative Forum representatives are engaged and kept well informed
d. Ensure that leadership are kept abreast of trade union activity in the region
Manage Occupational Health Services
a. Responsible for ensuring appropriate Occupational Health Service programmes are in place
b. Manage sickness absence proactively and provide guidance and support to supervisors and employees
c. Oversee the coordination of all substance abuse testing
d. Support health and well-being programmes and initiatives
Communications Director
a. Responsible for all internal and external communication standards
b. Engagement with key stakeholders
c. Liasion office for media and press enquiries
Wynyard Office Manager
a. Manage the occupancy of the Wynyard offices & the car park arrangements
b. Manage the provision of all associated ancillary services, including welfare, cleaning and catering, office equipment
c. Management of reception and administration support, to ensure that a proficient service is delivered
Financial / Contract and Personnel Management
a. Responsible to monitor the contract value, ensuring that the work scope is effectively delivered, and the scope is not expanded or changed unless the appropriate process is followed and approved
b. Generates ideas for cost saving/efficiencies
c. Coach, support and mentor team members / peers.
Qualifications
Competency Requirements
Educated to a Degree level – Essential
CIPD qualified – Essential
Service in HR Managerial role – Essential
Industrial Relations in a unionised environment – Essential
Similar working experience in the oil & gas industry or other regulated industry – Desirable
Hold a Full UK driving licence and to drive company vehicles where appropriate – Essential
Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills – Essential
Ability to use Microsoft packages and SAP – Essential
Good reporting, communication and workload management – Essential
Appropriate Physical and Mental Capability to undertake the role – Essential
