Management Accountant (Group)

Based in Chelmsford

Countrywide is part of the Connells group, the UK’s largest estate agency and property services business incorporating many well-known high street brands: Hamptons, Abbotts, Bairstow Eves, Taylors Estate Agents, are but a few. The Countrywide finance team is bringing back in house the accounting functions that are currently outsourced in India and looking to build on existing processes and enhance the quality of service. As part of this project we are creating an expanded Finance Team in Chelmsford

As part of the Group finance team, you will be responsible for driving and managing the efficient re-shoring project; producing accurate financial management and statutory accounts.

We are looking for someone who is Qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA or Qualified by Experience and with at least 3 years financial and management accounting experience.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities will include:

• 
  Monthly Management Accounts

• Facilitate the delivery of accurate, timely profit &loss account & balance sheet with fully reconciled month end files.
• Preparation of judgmental elements of monthly management accounts (e.g. bonus accruals and provisions), and overall review of group entity results.
• Review of balance sheet reconciliations including follow up of open items to ensure correctly dealt with on a timely basis.
• Management of year end audit process of group entities, ensuring key deliverables are available on time and liaising with the external audit team with query resolution.
• Monthly intercompany transactions recording and reconciliation.
• Preparing VAT returns and supporting corporate tax team with adhoc analysis as required.

• 
  Reporting

• Prepare the monthly management accounts reporting packs for group entities.
• Prepare the information required by the tax team for the consolidated quarterly VAT returns.
• Prepare annual group tax packs, PAYE Settlement Agreement (PSA) and supplementary packs required for stat accounts preparation.
• Preparation of Annual Statutory Accounts

• 
  Team Leadership

• Identifying best practice and driving productivity by implementing consistent efficient processes.

• 
  Other Activities
• Work closely with the offshore Finance team to ensure that all Finance processes relating to the group entities are brought onshore smoothly.

You will be required to critically assess information, communicate problem-solving ideas and process improvements to our management team in a straightforward manner.

You should have:

• Strong numerical and analytical skills, including experience of managing high volume transactions.
• Hard working with a hands on approach, leading by example . Be willing and able to work flexible hours if and when necessary
• Strong abilities with Microsoft Office, in particular Excel intermediate/advanced including modelling skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills, in particular the ability to communicate complex financial information in plain English.
• Ability to work to tight deadlines, and work under own initiative.
• Strong responsibility and ownership of the role, demanding of high performance from oneself and from others.
