VP Engineering About the Company Innovative platform connecting parents with local educational programs Industry Computer Software Type Privately Held, VC-backed Founded 2015 Employees 51-200 About the Role The technology platform connecting children with outside the classroom educational enrichment activities, is searching for a VP of Engineering.
Youll join an innovative, mission-driven organization and be a foundational member of the Executive Leadership team. We are on a path to build a profitable, industry-defining company with solid economics and fundamentals that are strong.
You’ll be the most senior engineering leader – leading a team of 6 engineers across varying levels, one data engineer, as well as an offshore engineering team made up of 10.
This position s to the CEO. You will be working side-by-side with our engineers toward technical execution of our projects.
You will also orchestrate the processes and systems necessary to empower the developers to deliver quality projects on time.
The company was recently acquire and we are looking for a leader that is excited about working collaboratively within a larger organization.
You will be responsible for helping the engineering team thrive inside a larger enterprise, post acquisition. You should be familiar with the ins and outs of Ruby on Rails and full stack web development (HTML, JS, CSS / SASS, SQL).
Our team has experience building products in C++, PHP, Java, Python and Perl as well building mobile apps for iOS and Android in Objective C, Swift, and Java.
Responsibilities Use your deep expertise in Software Engineering to create and implement strong practices across multiple teams Manage day-to-day operations of the engineering team Manage the hiring pipeline for the engineering team as we scale Collaborating with the leadership team to make strong architectural decisions and execute across our technology platform Leveraging agile practices to help the engineering team remove technical debt, and deliver value to our customers Partner with Design
Product to deliver features and new products to match our company vision Foster collaboration, productivity and an engineering culture with the highest standard of expectations to maintain high standards of performance Being a strong role model with regards to work ethic, constant improvement, and cultural integrity Deep curiosity to understand provider problems and have empathy and desire to solve them;
while fostering the same behavior within their team Respects the role of their Product counterparts and believe in the importance of pushing each other to be better Supports teams autonomy to operate in the areas they know best Adept at assessing our current technology ecosystem, identifying pain points, and creating a plan of execution to fix whats broken, while balancing against the need to deliver on enhancing and evolving our existing offerings Qualifications Bachelors degree OR 15 years of relevant work experience 12 years of experience minimum 10 years of SaaS software development experience, including experience in building products at scale.
5 years people management experience Experience working within a distributed
remote organization, with strong written communication skills and comfort with modern collaboration platforms. Hands-on leader, comfortable working at all levels of the organization.
Able to describe the problem and vision, along with the expertise to dive into minute details. Familiarity with payments platforms, Stripe in particular.
A strong strategist with business partnering skills, as well as experience managing multiple projects in unison to drive large scale change and improvement An understanding of business strategy and evidence of executing technology programs to deliver business objectives A desire to know and understand the core business with strong initiative to stay current with industry and technology trends A thorough and insightful problem-solver with an engaging attitude, demonstrated results, relentless sense of urgency, and strong intellectual stamina.
