Background on Company: 80+ year old private insurance company (the “Company”) with approximately $40 million of balance sheet capital based in the Washington, DC area. Unique blend of “old” (i.e., rich heritage and decades of profitable operations) and “new”, as company implementing a new go-forward business plan concurrent with a complex corporate restructuring, discussed in more detail below.
Background on Leadership Team: CEO is a former investment banker. Board includes well-respected business leaders, former regulators, and investment professionals. Recently hired former President of a $500+ million revenue specialty insurance business to lead execution of go-forward business plan.
Business Plan Pivot: Company is implementing a dramatic “reboot” to its core insurance business, pivoting from insuring taxis and sedans to vehicles used by small trades workers such as electricians, etc. Have made substantial investments in new personnel, technology, etc. Expect to achieve meaningful revenue growth over the next 5-7 years.
Corporate Restructuring: Company is currently undergoing complex restructuring transaction which consists of (a) conversion from mutual corporate structure to a stock corporation, (b) public stock offering and (c) concurrent acquisition.

Corporate Restructuring
Role will give the candidate unique experience playing a critical role in the corporate restructuring transaction.
Transition from Private to Public
Role will give the candidate unique experience playing a critical role in establishing and implementing a robust financial reporting infrastructure as Company transitions from being a private company to a public company.
Business Plan Execution
Role will give the candidate unique experience playing a critical role in supporting the execution of an ambitious go-forward business plan, including integrating a new general ledger (GL) system with a new insurance technology system, leading ongoing financial reporting to the Board, and leading internal reporting of key performance indicators (KPIs) to leadership team.
Unique Ownership Opportunity: As part of the corporate restructuring described above, Company is implementing an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), whereby over time, Company employees will own a substantial amount of the Company’s stock. Individual would be eligible to participate in the ESOP and, as such, become an owner of the Company. In addition, individual would be granted preferential rights to invest directly in the Company’s public offering.

Job Summary: Company is a specialty property and casualty (P&C) insurance company that focuses on the specialty commercial auto segment. Company is looking to hire a Senior Financial Reporting Manager with experience and expertise in GAAP property and casualty insurance accounting. The selected individual will be in a very visible role at a fast-paced and entrepreneurial organization and be an essential part of the finance team reporting to the VP of Finance. The Senior Financial Reporting Manager will be the key individual responsible for the preparation of quarterly and annual audited GAAP financial statements and supporting the audit and reviewing and applying accounting policies. The Senior Financial Reporting Manager will also assist in developing and maintaining financial accounting, internal control, and reporting systems. The prospective candidate will have the opportunity to provide input and shape the future of a dynamic reporting function.
