Senior Director of Finance & Accounting

Our client, a leading provider of training and technology to enterprises globally is looking for a Senior Director of Finance & Accounting to join its growing team. The Company is highly profitable and poised for rapid growth.

This senior leadership position is primarily responsible for financial operations, planning and reporting, select administrative, and risk management functions of the company. The successful candidate will work closely with the CEO, contribute to strategic direction, be responsible for the annual budgeting process, and deliver regular financial reporting and KPI analytics to the leadership team, Board, and the private equity investors.

The successful candidate will be a unique executive that can operate at a strategic level while also embracing the small company environment and its values, with a willingness to roll up his / her sleeves with a “can-do” approach to serving internal and external customers. More specifically, the Senior Director will be tasked with the following:

· Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting and analysis

· Monitor and enhance the tracking of key performance indicators and operational dashboards that support company’s key initiatives and performance

· Manage the company’s information/accounting system and identify needs and recommendations for system and process upgrades.

· Lead daily financial operations, support annual audit process, and identify and hire a staff accountant and/or other roles as needed over time.

· Spearhead projects such as customer retention analyses, sales compensation models, inventory and procurement analyses, annual HR/employee benefit plan evaluations and recommendations, and others as needed.

· Conduct regular audits of expenditures, assets and liabilities, identifying opportunities for optimizing profitability and cash flow.

· Support client negotiations and legal agreements, as needed, regarding payment terms, margin thresholds, and other key terms of licensing and services agreements.

· Participate in developing strategic and tactical recommendations and implementation plans as a member of the executive leadership team.

Qualifications and Experience:

· FP&A Experience. 10+ years of successful experience in the finance and accounting function.

· Technical/Functional Expertise. Strong accounting and financial controls, planning and analysis. Deep understanding of budgeting and forecasting, tax, treasury, KPIs, risk management, working capital management and banking relationship management. Expertise in using various accounting platforms, including QuickBooks, as well as experience transitioning to a more comprehensive system.

· Team Development. The executive will have the opportunity to build a finance and accounting team, and is expected to hire and develop strong talent. Must be a strong, inspiring leader to drive accountability and collaboration.

· Private Equity Experience. Prior experience working with a private equity owned company or in a private equity environment is preferred.

· Education. Masters degree in finance, accounting or business administration with strong accounting experience. Experience with a major accounting firm is a plus. An MBA and / or CPA would be preferred.

Location: This position is primarily office-based in San Diego, California.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $160,000.00 – $180,000.00 per year
