Job Description

Leading wholesale food distributor seeking sales professionals. We are a local company that specializes in providing high-quality fish, seafood, and specialty food products – along with top-notch customer service – to our customers in the Twin Cities and throughout the region. We’re looking for passionate, proactive, and energetic individuals to add to our team!

As a member of the sales team you will be responsible for building your own customer base, as well as calling on existing company accounts. You will serve as a ‘face’ for the company, directly engaging with cooks, chefs, managers, and owners within your accounts. Previous experience within fish/seafood or foodservice sales is strongly valued but not required.

Qualifications

• Culinary, food sales, foodservice operations, or distribution of perishable product experience preferred

• Hardworking with an ability to multitask, work through ambiguity, and address competing priorities
• High attention to detail and follow through
• Strong sense of urgency along with patience to build long-term relationships
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel) and ability to learn our inventory management system with training
• Demonstrated success in wholesale, center-of-the-plate sales highly valued
• Existing relationships within the food, vendor, and/or culinary community valued

Essential Job Functions

• Identify and contact sales leads using a variety of methods including: cold-calling, walk-in visits, in-person meetings, networking, social media, referrals, etc.
• Responsible for building relationships with current and prospective customers, managing collections, and directly soliciting orders from customers on an ongoing basis *this is a hands-on job that requires constantly reengaging the customer to ensure continued sales and success*
• Obtain a strong knowledge of the products we sell through our training/onboarding program, self-initiated learning, and/or prior experience
• Present new, existing, and/or seasonal product offerings to current and prospective customers; supply information regarding product availability, pricing, and features
• Add value to customers by assisting with menu development, food cost analysis, and offering unique solutions to their establishment
• Develop and maintain relationships within the local culinary community; stay informed on local and industry trends
• Communicate with buying and operations departments regarding: customer needs, preferences, and requests; special orders; shipping/delivery preferences and issues; product availability and sales volume estimates
• Attend a limited number of industry events on behalf of the company
