Confidential Hiring for Payroll Specialist Job at Phoenix, AZ Full Time

Completion of payroll processing tasks, preparation of fundings, reconciliations and related reports, and responding to inquiries related to payroll processes and procedures in an accurate and timely manner.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Ensure payroll data such as time worked, salaries, garnishments, PTO time, benefits and 401-k deductions.
• Review payroll computed and correct errors to ensure accuracy of payroll.
• Record changes affecting net wages such as exemptions, insurance coverage, loan payments, other deductions for each employee.
• Calculate and prepare manual checks and update the system with the information; process moving expenses, performance awards, and severance payments.
• Explain payroll and time recording policies and procedures; research and respond to inquiries from management, employees and third parties.
• Prepare, balance and distribute payroll funding requests to Accounting; prepare and enter adjustments in system to correct and update employee records.
• Review time entry validation and other payroll reports to verify accuracy of time entry and resulting pay implications; follow up to ensure accurate and complete payroll entries.
• Reconcile payroll related activity accounts and interact with accounting to clear reconciling items.
• Excel knowledge with the ability to develop and maintain spreadsheets’.
• Maintain company and employee payroll records, including earnings and deductions and tax withholding setup and maintenance; periodically audit accuracy of system data.
• Provide input and assistance for payroll projects; maintain documentation of payroll processes and procedures and recommend changes.
• Perform administrative functions including responding to employment verifications, maintaining payroll files, etc.

• Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

• 1-3 years of payroll experience a must, Associate’s degree or equivalent in business or accounting studies a plus.

Knowledge & Skills:

• Proficiency in software skills to create spreadsheets and databases and to extract information; familiarity with payroll processing data systems.
• Strong math, analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks concurrently; ability to work under high stress and deadlines; ability to work in confidential environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 – $25.00 per hour
