HVAC Operations Manager

Full Job Description

Small HVAC company in Chesapeake, Virginia specializing in high end custom homes, light commercial work, VRF systems, RTU’s, split systems, gas fired equipment, and in floor heating systems is looking for an Operations Manager. The Operations Manager is responsible for the day to day business activities including but not limited to estimating, equipment and material purchasing, scheduling, billings, and oversite of the install crews and office staff.

Essential Job Duties:

• Safety, safety meetings, and site safety inspections.
• Responsible for budget and related financial objectives.
• Cost estimates, equipment and material procurement, and scheduling of crews for each project.
• Direct management and leadership of HVAC install crews and office staff including – hiring, development/training, work quality management, time management, and management of subcontractors.
• Provide oversight to daily time review/approval, invoicing review/approval, contract performance review and management, A/R collection assistance when required, and job summary review/approval.
• Responsible for successful project completion, including direct and indirect cost control, scope completion and change orders, documentation, quality-control, job-file completion, and ing.
• Some design / sizing of HVAC equipment and duct.
• Organization of estimating and project files.

Requirements:

• Experience supervising field crews to optimize their assignments, skills, and productivity.
• Broad knowledge of HVAC equipment and System applications. Foundation for technical trouble-shooting and good business decisions.
• Strong organization and follow-up skills.
• Analytical skills on performance metrics, contract financial performance, and other measurable business processes and tasks.
• Virginia masters HVAC license or willingness to obtain.
• Universal Certification per EPA 608, 40 CFR part 82 F
• Effective user of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
• Clear communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Minimum two years of technical school or four years on the job experience in a related field preferred.
• Two years of project management experience and two years supervisory experience in a HVAC industry preferred.
• Basic knowledge of electrical, HVAC, and mechanical skills.
• Must have strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills along with technical skills.
• Must be Team oriented and professional.
• Ability to perform duties that are physical in nature.
• Willing to work overtime when needed.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to assist with scope and design of basic HVAC and duct systems.
