CONTROLLER

Multi store and state retailer is looking for an organized, detail-oriented individual to handle the day-to-day responsibilities in planning, implementing and managing all financial related activities for a privately held company based in the Seattle area.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

• Direct and oversee all accounting functions including support and training of staff
• Financial statement preparation including making journal entries and accruals
• All treasury functions including maintaining banking relationships and investment of funds
• Evaluate, design, implement, and monitor internal financial controls, accounting processes and policies for efficiency, cost effectiveness, and accuracy
• Coordination of annual certified audits including preparation of all schedules for both the financials and tax returns
• Negotiating purchase and monitoring of property, health and workmen’s insurance coverage
• Review and analysis of inventory cycle counts
• Supervision of the credit and collection functions
• Provide executive management with advice on the financial implications of business activities
• Management and collection of vendor receivables

Ideal Candidate would have the following experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• 4 years plus of professional experience in accounting role. Knowledge of GAAP, accrual basis accounting and financial reporting
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently to resolve problems
• Retail industry experience a plus
