Accounting Assistant –

New York based, international distributor of industrial products, founded in 1922, seeks an experienced individual to handle Accounts Payable.

The ideal candidate will have minimum of 3 years’ experience working in an active accounting department. Reporting to the Controller, must be able to work independently and cooperatively in a fast-paced environment, and must be able to meet established deadlines and achieve articulated goals.

Responsibilities

• Provide accounting and clerical support to the accounting department as needed.
• Perform day to day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, computing, processing, and recording accounts payables and receivables’ data
• Preparation of sales/purchase commissions & reconcile account balances.
• Daily entry of key data on financial transactions in database
• Prepare and reconcile daily deposits and monthly Bank Reconciliation.
• Ensure invoices are coded accurately. Maintain files, supporting schedules and records.
• Assist Controller with monthly closing entries and reports.
• General accounting functions & Special projects as needed
• Manage 1099 and related year-end reporting.
• Perform other duties that are reasonably associated with the above essential functions and additional duties assigned by supervisor.

Skills & Requirements:

• Proven accounting experience, preferably as an Accounts receivable clerk or Accounts payable clerk
• Strong communication, interpersonal and relationship skills.
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and financial reports
• Ability to properly organize and prioritize tasks.
• Must be able to work with a team cooperatively and independently.
• Excellent follow-up skills and an acute attention to detail to ensure accuracy.
• Proven ability to meet deadlines in a timely fashion.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.
• Four-year Accounting degree preferable.
• Familiarity with Acumatica a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 – $55,000.00 per year
