Starting salary £23,949 p.a. p.a. following successful completion of the Post Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Practice in Education Settings salary will rise to £27,043 p.a.
The role of the Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioners (TEMHPs) is to deliver short term low intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) informed interventions for children and young people aged 5 -19 years with anxiety, low mood, common challenging behaviours, family and peer relationship difficulties, difficulty adjusting to change and transition or difficulty managing emotions in educational settings.
Trainee EMHP will also work with Designated Mental Health Leads and other educational staff to build on and develop evidenced-based Whole School Approaches.
Compass GO… (NEL Mental Health Support Team) is an early intervention mental health and emotional wellbeing service. The service delivers evidenced based interventions for children and young people with mild to moderate mental health and wellbeing needs.
You will have to demonstrate in your application that you have the ability to work at degree level or have an equivalent level of relevant experience, with a proven record of previous learning or formal study in child development, wellbeing or mental health. You should also have experience of working with children and young people and an understanding of the educational system in England is desirable.
Trainee EMHP’s must undertake a Post Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Practice in Education Settings qualification at Sheffield University. During term time you will be required to attend (online) Sheffield University two days per week.
The 12 month post graduate course will start in February 2023 and will consist of academic and supervised practice learning across mental health services and educational settings, such as primary and secondary schools, and further education colleges.
Delivery of the programme will be provided through a combination of taught days within Sheffield University, independent self-guided study and experience gained in education wellbeing and mainstream health services.
